Woodworking Tips & Techniques: Lathe – George Vondriska reviews Easy Wood Tools’ (EWT) carbide-tipped lathe chisels include a replaceable carbide cutter allowing the user to rotate the cutter when one side gets dull and replace the cutter when all of the sides have been used. A WoodWorkers Guild of America (WWGOA) original video.

  1. Smooth? The end grain tearout at the end of the video was so pronounced you would have been breaking out the 60 grit gouge for the next hour. Seriously, Woodworkers Guild of America should hire a turner to review tools. Utterly ridiculous…

  2. Why would you pay $120 to $140 then with a drill press and a end mill and a 2 way compound vise you can machine a 5/8" round bar to accept the round carbide cutter or others then just drill and tap to 6-32 thread

  3. @BrushCountryJamboree Sometimes home made is better, sometimes it isn’t. More power to you if you can manage the machining for a project like lathe chisels.

  4. Ying Xu says:

Santonucci should change his handle to sanctimonious. Grab a dictionary if your lexicon is less than your turning expertise.

  5. CrossWood says:

Don't need to be sharpened, in fact, can't be without expensive stuff.

  6. Carbide is not very cost effective. HSS leads to a more "harmonious" outcome.
